Comprehensive Outpatient Care for Children
Peachford Hospital’s Child Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an outpatient program designed specifically to meet the unique needs of kids ages 4 to 12 experiencing psychiatric symptoms or substance abuse problems. These issues impair their daily functioning at home or at school. PHP offers counseling and therapy during the day but allows kids to return home during the evenings. It offers a unique level of care for patients who don’t need 24-hour care but require more therapy than a typical outpatient visit. It is often recommended to children recently released from our Child Acute Inpatient Program.
Child PHP is offered Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is based on our level system of therapeutic progress. The program is mainly comprised of group therapy and creative/expressive therapies that help children work through the various issues that cause distress and reactive behaviors. Through these therapies, they develop new coping mechanisms and social skills that can be used and practiced at home. Our treatment team of psychiatrists, licensed counselors, social workers and registered nurses are dedicated to helping your child walk through a difficult time, guiding them the whole way.
We also dedicate significant time to their education to ensure they don’t fall behind in school during their stay.
One of the most important components of a child’s recovery is family involvement. A child’s family helps the recovery process by giving them a place to thrive during and after the program. You may not know where to start, but Peachford Hospital offers Child Parenting Classes to help you support your child and their mental and emotional needs.
