Psychiatric Treatment Options
for Adults & Seniors

Mental health issues and addiction can disrupt lives for adults and their families, causing serious issues at home and at work. When your issues begin to destroy your relationships and impact your career, it may be time to see help.

Admitting that you need assistance with your mental health may feel terrifying, but help is available at Peachford Hospital. Located in Dunwoody, Georgia, Peachford Hospital has a group of experienced behavioral health professionals that are dedicated to helping patients get healthy.

Our full continuum of psychiatric programs at our hospital for adults 18 and older help patients address a number of issues, such as depression, anxiety, and other personality disorders and mental health problems. We also offer specialized care tailored to the needs of senior adults age 65 and older.

Our continuum of care offers inpatient and outpatient options, including:

Acute Inpatient

The adult inpatient program at Peachford Hospital provides a comfortable and secure residential setting for patients who need immediate around-the-clock inpatient treatment for mental health disorders or substance use disorders. Adult acute inpatient care can be the first step in the journey to recover.

Senior Acute Inpatient

Our senior inpatient program offers substance use and senior mental health services for older adults with specialized treatment to meet their unique needs whatever they may be.

Partial Hospitalization

Adult PHP is a full-time adult day program where patients attend treatment in the day and then return home. This is a great step-down for someone leaving inpatient treatment who needs to adjust to a life in recovery or continue to receive support after treatment.

Intensive Outpatient

Our adult intensive outpatient program is a part-time day program that allows patients to receive treatment for a few hours a day several times a week and then return back to their regular lives afterwards. An adult IOP is perfect as a step-down for those leaving inpatient and PHP, as well as a good first-step for those testing out if treatment is right for them.

Electroconvulsive Therapy

Inpatient and outpatient ECT treatment provides an option for those with major depression, bipolar disorder or other mental illnesses that have not responded well to typical treatment through brain stimulation. There are some potential negative side effects, including muscle aches, but, as with many medical treatments, the effectiveness of the treatment speaks for itself.

Substance Abuse Treatment

Our treatment facility offers substance use treatment and care services designed to take care of those suffering from addiction as well as mental health disorders.

Individual Outpatient (Per Client)

TREATMENT COMPONENTS

The treatment process begins with a comprehensive evaluation to help diagnose any underlying medical or biochemical origins of disease and an individualized care plan is created to address each patient’s special needs. Treatment for each patient is administered by a multidisciplinary, psychiatrist-led team of mental health professionals that may include nurses, social workers, activity therapists, internal medicine physicians, teachers, substance abuse counselors and program specialists. When outpatient therapy is deemed to be the most effective course of treatment, Peachford Hospital provides a variety of outpatient services as well as a referral network to area health professionals.

Because psychiatric problems may be complicated by a coexisting substance abuse problem, Peachford Hospital provides specialized treatment for adolescents with dual diagnosis issues. Substance abuse treatment follows the 12-Step philosophy.

  • Therapeutic components may include:
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Behavioral therapy
  • Drug and alcohol education
  • Accredited school program
  • Recreational therapy
  • Activity therapy
  • Pet therapy
  • Medication education
  • Pharmacotherapy

AFTERCARE & FAMILY SUPPORT

Family participation is a vital component of adolescent treatment at Peachford Hospital and is designed to promote understanding and effective communication. Upon successful completion of treatment, a follow-up aftercare program is available at no charge to help support continued rehabilitation and wellness. Discharge meetings are held with family and, if appropriate, employers to strengthen patients on their road to recovery.
